Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
In the first book of this series, (The Lightning Thief) Percy finds out that he is a demigod which means that he is half god half mortal. He rescues his mom from the underworld and get's back Zeus's master bolt. Later on in the series, he fights his once friend now enemy, Luke Castellan and Kronos for the golden fleece with his friend Grover and his girl-friend Annabeth. Then he fights Kronos's army for the safety of Camp Half-Blood and the Greek Gods and the world.
I rate this book five out of five stars because it has a very strong and good story line. it has lot's of action, and because of the fact that once you start reading, you can't stop.

John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice
In the "Ruins of Gorlon" (The first book), you find out that Will, and orphan is chosen to be a Ranger.(An expert archer and knife-thrower that can disappear with their camouflage cloaks). Later, in the series, you find him fighting pirates, the Shenshi (Samurais), and Skanadians (vikings). This is one of the best series that I have ever read and I would give it five stars too.
